A native of Southeast Texas, Troy Kaufman (b. 1998) is already an accomplished saxophonist, arranger, and music educator.
His positive experiences with music from a young age led him to study Music Education at Lamar University, and later earn a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance from Texas State University.
Troy has enjoyed performing as a freelance saxophonist in the Greater Austin and Golden-Triangle areas as a member of various big bands, jazz combos, salsa groups, and pop/rock/contemporary ensembles. His experiences in music have also allowed him to travel all throughout the United States and Europe performing with various groups.
As a music educator, Troy loves helping passionate students learn and grow as musicians and people. He has taught individual private lessons to students from beginner through collegiate-level. As a full time band director in central Texas, Mr. Kaufman has experience leading all aspects of a band program. The students he has taught have made many musical achievements, including earning membership in the Texas UIL All-Region and All-State bands, and have earned scholarship to college based on their musical proficiency. His jazz bands have won multiple outstanding performance and outstanding soloist awards.
Outside of music, Troy enjoys woodworking, golf, traveling, watching sports, hiking, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family
